Hip Surgery and Med Supp Underwriting

I know a guy who is currently on an MAPD plan. His doctor has told him that he needs hip surgery that can wait until after the first of the year. Is a supplement pretty much out of the question? At his age, a supplement would be around $100/month, which could be considerably less expensive than the MAPD copays/coinsurance.

Any recommended surgery is a knockout.

After his surgery and once he's cleared by his doctor, try writing a Med Supp if he's healthy enough. The OEP is through March 31st.

But make sure he's also released from physical therapy, too if he needs that as well.

There are a couple of suggestions.

1) If he's in his trial right he can move GI.

2) If he moves out for the MA service area he has GI for a supp.
