Is history repeating itself?

To stand against tyranny is the right nay the duty of all free men.

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

OK. You want to stage a revolution on what principals? That the healthcare finance system is going to be changed? Bush brought us Part D and Medicare Advantage and I didn't hear you call for a revolution then.

Or is it because your taxes might go up? Hmm. Bush One raised taxes as did Clinton as did Bush Two (for the lower earners) but I didn't hear you call for a revolution then.

Or is it because it looks like we will have one-party rule? Well Bush had both houses of Congress for most of his administration and we didn't hear a call to arms from you then?

I think I have it. It's because we have a black president who is a liberal and elected by a majority of the people and whom you happen to disagree with. Yeah, I have to believe that is the issue here.

Funny, you didn't call for a revolution when LBJ or Clinton were in office. Is this a black thing you have going here? Or is this a liberal thing... or is this just a bit too much Jack Daniels and soda that has got you all up in arms?

You've posted some really off-the-wall things in the past Jack, but this one is beyond the pale! You really think people are going to favor Dictator Jack K. over even the most liberal government in the past 40 years? Maybe in Georgia and a few other red states... but if you look at the map you will see you don't have any red in any of the populous areas.

Do you really think a few Southern red-necks with pitch-forks are any match for Philadelphia lawyers and New York bankers? Not gonna happen, Jack. Not gonna happen.

Funny how if one mentions our declaration of independence one is considered a radical and an activist. We should be eternally vigilant that the character of our nation matched the collective vision of our founders and not the petty leaning of office seekers in the 21st century. The agenda makers of today base their choices on personal gain and our founders based then on self scarifice. Everyone of them had death warrants on them and several perished.

No it isnt to the point where a revolution is called for yet. But if this government does become a totalitarian socialist one as I fear it may; then the clarion call should be sounded.
Yes a majority did elect Obama but sadly many were incompetent, brainwashed, or misled. I am a pragmatist I want what works and single payer is an untenable situation. Not only will it increase taxes dramatically and not just on the rich but innovation in care will decrease, there will be rationing, life for certain segments (the elderly, and the unborn) will continue to be devalued. Obama appeared to be a pragmatist a man of education and knowledge and yet he has acted lockstep in unison with the liberal democrats. Its like we elected Hugo Chavez... workers of the world unite indeed. I still hold out hope that these people are incrementalists which I feel is fine because all things change, but a march to the left rather than the center disturbs me greatly.

I dont worry about healthcare as much as one would think. There are plenty of other ways to make money in insurance and finacial advising. I find far more insidious the calls for a national civilian defense force, the potential call for mandatory vaccinations as in 1976, the devaluing of our currency, the mortgaging of our future, the confiscation of our property and livlihood and the suppression of our free will. I dont believe big government is a good thing and I see it as a threat to our individual rights and personal liberties.

By the way I am not a southerner by birth but of inclination and choice. I am originally from the Great State of New York.

Per the constitution all powers not officially delegated to the federal government are enumerated to the state.

Proponents of big government have forgotten that. I dont care if they were elected or not. The Supreme Court is supposed to uphold the constitution and they have abdicated their responsibility to defer to the will of the people. Problem with the people is they are short sighted and dont realize the constitution is the only thing that has kept this have intact for 233 years. It isnt capitalism or christianity or good will or common interest it is the constitution and it must be upheld.

Our POTUS is black? Wow. Didn't know that. I thought he was 1/2 black and 1/2 white. Guess that makes him something like - HUMAN! Geez, get off the racist rants people!

It is perfectly fine and normal to disagree with someone based on principle. It is not fine, and certainly not normal, to accuse someone who disagrees of racism.
 
Do you know why that is because of the one drop rule that the slave owners of the south developed. They believed that if a person has one drop of black blood they were black and therefore a slave.

I find it extremely perplexing that the left has adopted the same mindset. When are we gonna put petty things like color behind us as a nation. That is something that should definitely change. But the opinion makers on the left and the far right racists want to keep it alive.

You lose an election and you call for the overthrow of the government. Yeah, we all recognize THAT as a viable alternative.

I honestly don't believe any of you understand how silly and stupid you sound when you imply that somehow "the people" are only smart when they vote your way.

It's funny how the majority were really smart when they elected both Bushes and Reagan, but somehow they were total idiots when they voted for Clinton and Obama.

This is the intellectual paradigm that you are going to use to re-build your party and try to forge a new base... beyond your holy-roller bible thumpers, your Southern racist fringe, the Idaho survivalists, and the old-money aristocracy? Yeah, I know Rush and Newt preach it, but Rush is a song and dance man, and Newt is a discredited hack politician.

Winter says you folks have to be MORE conservative. Is that possible? And whom are you going to reach with an ultra-conservative message? Who wants to turn the clock back to Alabama of 1958? Anyone outside of the rural South and West? Until you allow people in the tent who agree with you only 60% of the time, you will remain a splinter party.

Face it. You have no message, no agenda, no platform for progress, and no plan for the future. You can only win if Obama loses. But if the country rebounds back (the way the stock market seems to be trending) you are destined for the trash-heap of history in your current incarnation.

The only Reps to win in the post-war period were those who gave people a reason to vote FOR them as opposed to voting against the other guy.

Your Reagan gave us "Morning in America." Your Nixon gave us "Peace with Honor." Your Bush-1 gave us "No New Taxes." Your Bush-2 gave us "Compassionate Conservatism."

What did McCain give us. "Don't vote for 'that one.'" How well did that work?

What are you giving us now? A lot of 1950s cold-war, Ayn Rand, re-heated anti-Communism/Socialism rhetoric that only the most naive and simple-minded people will believe.
