Hited Agents Hiring Sales Teams?

A guy I'm looking at hiring within my multi line agency wants to be able to hire additional sales team members that make phone calls for him to sell insurance. I also produce in my agency along with another agent. I have not seen this in any P&C shops I'm aware of where a hired agent hires his own staff. Seems like an agency within an agency. Any thoughts or experience with this out there?

If they are in your space and representing your agency, they better work for you.

I'd work out an agreement. He can set their comp and do the hiring with you having final approval on both. Their comp goes against his, so he is still paying for them, but you are cutting the checks. Make him their supervisor, but you are still the agency owner and the boss.

I would be careful. it sounds wrong, anyone selling under your name, you are responsible for.
