Is this going on with all of the carriers or ONLY Humana? I just completed the recert and noticed that:

1) they have reaffirmed that we cannot discuss the Value Added Services (Optional Benefits) and that they will no longer be included in the SOBs.

2) They will no longer include the SOAs in the Enrollment Booklet. I happen to appreciate that the SOA was in the booklet. No more fishing around for SOAs that I could not find or had misplaced.

3) No magnetic advertising signs on our cars; I never used this, but I do know agents that do. It's typically for United Healthcare, which seems to get away with more stuff like this in my markets.

4) No advertising on Social Media. Again, I never used this one either. But again, United Healthcare agents do this very freely in my markets.

Is it just Humana that is this incredibly strict?

The Value Added thing has been on other carriers certifications so it's a real thing. No discussing those benefits. This came up last year with Humana. They said we couldn't. But we were told by other carriers we could. Looks like Humana got their way again. That just gives more credibility to the notion that Humana controls CMS in relation to all things MAPD and PDP.

The social media issue has been as well. But I don't know if that's a CMS thing or a carrier thing. The only thing in the AHIP material regarding marketing and social media states that you can't send unsolicited messages via social media. Since I have no social media accounts i have no idea if people were doing this or not. But seeing there's a rule for it they obviously have.
