My client thought Medicare had called him to compare rates on his MedSupp. He put me on a 3 way call. It took 3 times to get the person to say they were an insurance agent. Appointed by Medicare, licensed with Medicare, and I don't recall the other thing said. Then I said, "You are an insurance agent, correct?" Finally, yes.
Really? This is not shocking I suppose. I thought the methods for STM were the main place people get very bad information.
    :err:

I've seen so much, I had an agent try and tell a prospect, They should not sign with me as it is illegal to buy insurance from an out of state agent, another told a prospect that I could not sell them the Aetna MA plan because Aetna only allows in-state agents to sell the plan

In both cases, I said to a prospect why then would I bother if I could not legally sell the policy then I could not get paid and there would be no reason for me to call

There could be a show local agents say the darndest things

I loose a little bit of business here and there from agents being shifty weasels. Lying, wrong class codes, etc. I get a whole bunch of business because of the fact that so many agents are shifty weasels, and people come to me relying heavily on the referral that sent them to me.

So, while I lose a little bit of business to agents misbehaving, I also get a LOT of business from agents misbehaving.

OK, so now I am in the position of finding out if someone with Asthma and a 3X/day nebulizer (diagnosed about 3 months ago) will be accepted at a competitive rate on a MedSupp Plan G for a 67 YO male, Non tobacco, currently at about $137/month. Anthem is $112/month. I will call them. In Virginia.
I am the agent now, on Equitable, competitive when age 65.
