Does any one know what is the salary for beginner personal/ commercial line underwriter?

Is it better to worker for agency first or for carrier?

Thanks for helping.

The average salary range (according to the internet) for an experienced underwriter is $54,000 - $58,000. High end could be $60,000 to $70,000.

A beginner without any insurance education or background may get $25,000 to $30,000 to start and go through a training program. May do better with insurance education.

If you want a career as an underwriter, work for a carrier. If you want to be an agent, work for a carrier or an agency. I think a carrier would be less likely to hire an agent to be an underwriter than an agency would be to hire an underwriter as an agent. But that's just based on my own career experiences. Your mileage may vary.
