InsuranceLeads Follows Me Around the Net

Privacy no more I guess. The new way Google is targeting ads is by your search patterns. Google knows I do a ton of insurance related searches so InsuranceLeads ads are now configured to appear on almost literally every site I visit. If other people visited those same sites they'd see different ads.

For example, in the non-insurance related forum there was a link to a Siobhan Magnus petition site. Click it and guess which ad appears.

This also means InsuranceLeads knows which sites I'm on all day. Well...not exactly. They know the breakdown of their click-throughs for each site.

Great, so now when I go to almost every site I have to start at the "InsuranceLeads" banner. Please, stop the madness.

Be careful where you're surfing during the day. Privacy is dead.

I asked a buddy of mine to go on those same sites but he told me I must be wrong since all he saw was penile enhancement ads.

But no kidding. When this becomes the norm, anyone will be able to look at your computer, see the ads and determine a lot about you.

I see those same ads.

Guess I need to do more searches for insurance . . .

Nice. I'm a huge privacy fan. I don't have anything to hide but that's not the point. With social media the lie being told me the more everyone knows about you the better off you'll be.

That would be the biggest lie on the net to date. The more people know about you the worse everything will become. This is especially true if you're an employee.

Does you boss have different political or religious views? If you and one other person are up from promotion, you think you're getting the job if he knows you visit hunting sites while he's a PETA activist?

The LESS people know about you the better - again, especially in a job situation. The only thing people need to know about you at work is that you're a hard worker and do a great job.

There are people on this forum I will never do business with just because of certain posts they've made. Certainly the reverse is true.

Netquote and ringcentral follow me everywhere. I guess that means I'm not looking at enough porn or sports.
