Is there really any affordable life insurance for senior citizens?

Hi,

My wife and I are both on social security and we're (obviously) ON
a fixed income. That being said, we can not afford too much as we
spend what we have on "living", and medications, Medicare, etc.
Are there any reasonable alternatives out there that wouldn't
break the bank? Thank you, much appreciated. Carl

Carl. Why do you need the life insurance?

Robert, we feel like we need the life insurance so the surviving spouse can take care of final expenses, etc. Is there an alternative for us? I am 65 and my wife 68. Thanks. Carl

Are you both retired or are either of you still working?

In general, apart from work, what are your sources of income and what happens to that income if the income recipient passes away?

Do either of you smoke?

How would you (in general) describe your health?

Yes, we are both retired (I am disabled, but past the age of 62, (65). I am not sure what you mean by "what happens to that income?", other than it would be decreased by 50%. Neither of us smoke, and we are both in good health,
