What things should one look for in a company when they are just starting out in insurance sales? I'm looking into life, and home owners, I would prefer the option of salary or commission, I will definitely need leads, and I would prefer to spend as little as possible on start up cost!

The following information can help us better answer your question.
1. Where are you located?
2. Life and Health, or p&c?
3. Salaried, or only commission?
4. What are your interests?
5. Do you need leads, or can you go make your own sales?
6. Do you have marketing money?

Thanks

Get hooked up with a captive company to start to learn the business. I would suggest working as an employee of a State Farm, Allstate, American Family or Farmer's agent. You'll get base salary + commission. Learn the business - then figure out what you want to do.
