Kaiser Permanente will not accept Medicare + Plan F???

Thanks LD--

What does Kaiser Permanente offer?
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Options, Inc., offers 4 of the 12 standardized Medicare Supplement (also called Medigap) plans: Plan A, Plan F, Plan K, and Plan N.

Each plan has different benefits, and you have the freedom to choose your own providers without a referral.

Why choose Kaiser Permanente?
Here are just a few of the reasons why many Medicare enrollees choose — and re-enroll in — our plans

Access to the providers you want to see
Kaiser Permanente Medicare Supplement plans provide access to any physician, specialist, and hospital that accepts Medicare, with no referral needed.
However, Medicare Supplement members cannot receive care at Kaiser Permanente medical offices.

They actually have the balls to put those 2 sentences together in the same paragraph?

And they have the balls to sell a product that their own flagship institution refuses to honor???

This could be even more Twilight Zone than I thought.

Why would they refuse to take what every other Medicare-accepting doctor/institution in the country takes?

How can they get away with it?

It is crazy But they have stuff like this Just like AARP has special contract with the villages in FL They don't accept AARP supp only MA plan

If a medical facility accepts govt funding they are required to accept Medicare patients. There are other private hospitals and clinics that also refuse Medicare. Some are cash only, others will take some forms of insurance.

Kaiser facilities (not the contractors) are owned by Kaiser and funded by "dues" and premiums. No tax dollars involved.

I definitely learned this the hard way.

For the past year, since I started this endeavor in Medicare, I've heard and read, "Supplement policies eliminate network restrictions and allow you to get healthcare from any provider that accepts Medicare." I've never heard anyone say, "....except for Kaiser."

Kaiser isn't an exception. They don't accept Medicare...

Thank you. This is from their website:

Kaiser Permanente Medicare Supplement plans provide access to any physician, specialist, and hospital that accepts Medicare, with no referral needed. However, Medicare Supplement members cannot receive care at Kaiser Permanente medical offices.

I believe what you're telling me but that statement on their website makes it a little confusing for a newbie. Thanks again for taking the time to help me!

Yes. It looks weird. If they added "because they do not accept Medicare" after the word "offices" it would be helpful.

It's the, "that accepts Medicare," part that's confusing. Silly me thinks in terms of, "Do they accept Medicare or not?" I guess they're saying they accept Medicare but only if it's on their MA or supplement plans.
(I wish I could get some good BBQ and breakfast sausage what has quality unmatched as that found in TN!) Thanks again.
