If you have a powerful laptop that gets hot you might want to check out getting a laptop cooling pad. I picked one up when at Office Depot today and for 40 bucks it's keeping the machine cooler than I've ever seen it before.

This is the one I just bought, it's a Targus but there are a few others that have good reviews from other brands.
Essentially they're just triangles with fans on one side that blow cool air into and away from the laptop's bottom. A small change, but a big difference for someone who uses their laptop a lot.
