Hi Everyone - I have an agent who just got a DUI. He's a great associate but has made a terrible mistake. Anyone familiar how the Colorado DOI views DUI's for licensed agents on renewals? No accident or injury just the DUI.

Also this is for prop and casualty, health and life license...

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

A person at the Colorado DOI would be familiar with how the Colorado DOI views DUIs for licensed agents on renewals.

I suggest you call up the DOI and ask.

Your agent will have to deal with the DOI sooner or later.

According to the Candidate Handbook (Page 2) a licensee must be:

Trustworthy, competent, financially responsible, and of good personal and business reputation

https://www.asisvcs.com/publications/pdf/120600.pdf

Drunk drivers aren't described by any of those terms.

I also suggest calling the DOI, however, not sure I would want someone who isn't responsible in nature to handle my policies? Would you?

Good luck to your agent. Hopefully they learned their lesson.

Frist one is a misdemeanor so Id imagine it wont be a huge issue. Contracting with new companies is where it might need explanation. Mistakes happen. But when mistakes turn into felonies, that's where issues arise.
