Looking for Guardian Contract...

...title pretty much says it all. I've got one already and I have some business with Guardian. The problem is that I think Guardian is great, not so sure about my upline (who shall remain nameless). Pretty much AWOL while I'm writing apps and I have to ask other agents how to submit them, etc. Doesn't really make sense to me...but hey, whatever.

I'm an experienced agent (since 2004) so don't lowball me. I don't need much, but some level of support would be nice.

So, dazzle me...I'm entertaining offers.

Protected territories per se. Contracting out of territory would require that you have not produced any business with the agency in your territory within the past 12 months and you have a current relationship with the GA of the out of territory general agency. The relationship bit is not really thoroughly investigated. The production piece really only matters if the current GA finds out about the change in broker affiliation and wants to pitch a fit. The rules are an attempt to prevent brokerage directors and more specifically Guardian's Disability Insurance Specialists from offering additional expense comp to agents and snipe them from other agencies.

I'm personally an out of territory broker with them, not really a big deal in most cases.

Both Larry and Dgoldenz have identified two very strong GA's. Steve's operation in MD is quite fascinating IMO, but I don't see that being hugely beneficial to a broker. Both agency carry serious clout and experience working through Guardian, which can be a bit tricky sometimes.

Thanks guys/gals (if any...haha).

I'm really only interested in their life products as I haven't really even looked into their supplemental products. Not sure if that matters, but maybe I should have said that in the OP. I like the WL and have used the term with conversion rider in the recent past. Not much business with them at all, so maybe that will play into the switch, if I go with a new GA.

Anyone have experience with a group that Guardian is affiliated with in Austin?

Get familiar with their DI...very good $$$ if you know what you're doing. The number of agents that actually know DI is minimal compared to life. Makes it easy to be "the expert" and you don't really have to compete on price since they truly do have the best DI product on the market. Price is a factor, but much less important to a DI prospect than it is with life insurance.

Good to know as I'm going to a Guardian DI meeting on the 5th. I've come to really like the company. It would just be nice to know where I'm supposed to send completed apps to! lol

How do you find your DI prospects? I have always believed in DI and I know it is profitable if you know what you are doing. The problem is, it seems unless you work the med or law schools, it is hard to find good DI prospects.
