Medicare Broker Adding P&C?

Greetings -

please refer me to other post on the topic if they exist - Yes these are pretty novice level questions but I hate to leave commissions on the table -

I am an Independent medicare insurance broker with over 300 very local clients on the books - Many clients ask if I can help them with auto and home insurance - Is it worth adding P&C and marketing to them?
- Can you be a truly independent broker for P&C or is it all captive?
- any other advice?

You can be independent with p&c. I will warn you that it is hard to get contracts for a new p&c agent without using a cluster. Average commission for personal lines business is 10-15% new and renewal.
