Medicare - Release from Upline during AEP

as a licensed agent that goes through extensive testing, compliance training, certifications, AHIP, etc and I sign on with a company I expect ethical behavior - My upline knows very well the leads I get are provided from another source - I send the lead sheets. I have the CMS max commissions allowed and my current FMO follows those commissions - and they still will not match. That is my issue. They give me no reason to want to work with them.

So, lesson learned. Now you know what to watch out for next time.

Chazm, we were told any new MAPD's were $601 but if they were same carrier then would be the $301.00

Unless they provide the leads you're getting screwed if being paid less than full commission. I have yet to see a carrier that will allow for movement during AEP. Unfortunately you might have to suck it up.

I hope you're being paid directly from the carriers. Otherwise when you leave there is a 99.999999% you won't get any renewals.

BTW, I learned this the hard way about 11 years ago when Applied General Agencies (AGA) out of Southern California screwed me out of probably $10,000 in renewal commission.

My new upline I am paid directly by the carriers. I am researching switching my agent of record for my clients I keep in touch with. yes I am learning all this the hard way. This time next year it will be smoother sailing I am sure!

You misunderstood what they said. It’s $601 for anyone new to Medicare. If they aren’t t65 then you will most likely never get paid the full commission from anyone. It seems you’re not getting screwed, you just don’t understand how it works

I switched FMO's right before AEP to a local company where I have face to face support. Of course my prior FMO (UIG) is not releasing one of my carriers and after researching I found out the commissions paid out for MAPD's was less than half of the CMS recommended commissions for my state. In 2018 I was cheated out of over $4k in MAPD commissions. UIG is refusing to release one of my insurance carriers /contracting. I have not submitted any prior business under this carrier. My new FMO pays commissions based on CMS for MAPD, UIG pays less than half. UIG pays MAPD $240 - CMS allows $601.00 There is a huge difference in the commission. I had to submit a bunch of apps already to UIG and have asked them to match the commission. I get my leads directly from this insurance carrier and NO support of leads from UIG and they are taking more than half my commission per application. I have filed a complaint but not sure if that will be helpful. Is there anything else I can do??? Please help

Pay no attention to any rude and insensitive comments from others. Just ignore them. Remember you're on an internet forum where people are more hostile.

You simply didn't know that you would be locked up into a contract. I'm not sure how you can get out of it. What if you cancel your contract with the carrier? Then move to the new FMO and sign-up with the carrier again? Ask the new FMO what the best action should be.

Only stick with large, well-known FMOs with a good reputation and will release you at any time. No FMO is really going to help you aside from getting you contracted with the carrier.

Yes I am learning - its the price paid for being newer in business. So with that being said - what is everyone's advise for making consistent income in this business especially after AEP/OEP. In NJ there is no hospital indemnity to add on just cancer/HA/Stroke insurance and final expense. What else is everyone doing to stay consistent all year?
