Medicare Supplement Plan D - what Happened to this Plan?

Hey there, Newbie here
I spoke with a couple in their early 70's who are in BC/BS IL Plan D Medicare Supplement/Medigap Policy (not talking about PART D drug coverage here). They complain of high premiums but I was unable to get specific premium amounts from them so far (English is their second language).
I've looked around and notice that this MedSupp Plan D is no longer written by Blue. I'm wondering if these folks may be in a plan where the risk pool is becoming very aged and sickly making premiums escalate dramatically.
Anyone have a bit of background on Medicare Supplement/Medigap PLAN D?
Thanks

That is the trend nationwide. Run a quote and you only have about five D's here in MO, quote G and you have over a dozen.

With the modernization of supps in 2010 carriers seen G as an easy alternative to F, the most popular plan, and have slowing stopped offering D's at all. I've had to convert most of my D's to AARP N's via Missouri's annual GI conversion to save clients money. It is a dead pool for sure.
