Medicare Supplement Telemarketing Script

Hey guys,

Isn't it illegal to say that you are a "medicare specialist"? I could be wrong but I could have sworn it said that in the compliance training. I know you certainly can't put that on your business card. Anyone know for sure and also is there a different term you can use that is legal and compliant?

If the prospect agrees to see you don't just leave the day and time open. I hear too many agents say, "I'm going to be in your area on Wed, will that be a good time for you?" Ninety plus % of people are going to say yes and then totally forget about your conversation after you hang up.

That is not an appointment! An appointment is a specific day and time.

When I have them on the phone, the main piece of info I want from them is the name of their current insurance company. If that's all I get from that phone call it has been a successful call.

A comment about the list you ordered. I would change the income to start at $12,000. At a beginning amount of $20,000 you are missing out on a huge portion of the senior population who are excellent prospects.

I have never had a lot of luck with people 65 and 66. They are like teenagers, they think they know more than we do. They want to make their own bad decisions. (That is a good thing for us.) Contact them when they are 67 and gently show them the error of their ways and put them with a good plan and company.

At 65 they will look at you like a a high-pressure insurance agent, at 67 you will look hero. (Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating just a little. :))

When I order lists they are usually from age 67 to 78. There are still a lot of 78 year old seniors who can qualify for a supplement.

Yeah but Frank, that income level is GREAT for the boonies, but here in civilization (wink) 12k gets you into the ghettos, and although we all would like to pack heat, most agent's don't carry guns up here (present company excluded) and you end up running into $0 premium MA.

Here's another idea, get a small business list of 64-70 year olds, and start calling them, offer to shop their medicare amongst other things, no DNC to worry about, and theres more money on the table.

We are talking about phone scripts and phone sales, no? No trip to the ghetto/guns necessary.:1baffled:

I used to do face to face sales for medicare advantage plans. Needless to say I was in the worst areas of town. I was never scared though because I knew the person on the other side of the door was a senior. And on the rare occassion it was someone scary looking I would just smile and tell them what I wanted. The smile always seemed to disarm them.

A group of very scary gang of black guys once all looked at me like "what is the white boy doing here", but I just smiled, played dumb, and told them I was there to help this person on the lead card with their insurance. One of the boys piped up and said "Oh, you want my Grandma. Let me get her for you" The group defitnelty changed thier tune from that moment on. Always remember to smile and show no fear! lol

yeah that was vdunlaps first post on a two year old thread. LOL

Its okay though. On here every thread is like a conversation that never dies.

Yeah, I realized after I posted it just how old the conversation was because I wasn't even looking at the dates. I've never spent any time on forums so while I know how to use a computer pretty well forums I've never done anything on. What can I say? I guess I'll live and learn.

Its cool. We have all started out as the newbie. (and some of us still are... lol)

I use the search feature to find topics I want to learn about. Read those threads and then I subscribe to them to remind me that I read them already. It will also tell you when someone has posted something new on that thread when you click on "User CP" then "Subscribed Threads".

Nice to have you hear and good luck!
