It was only a matter of time.. they've rekindled the debate over cuts in Medigap coverage to save the Gov't money on the back of seniors.

I'm hoping that the senior lobby is strong enough to overcome this one..

(Letter from Mutual of Omaha today)..

"Medicare Supplement is Under Fire!

Medicare supplement insurance is under fire in Washington...and we need your help to make sure this valuable product, which has driven significant growth for both Mutual of Omaha and our sales partners, remains viable.

Not only has Medicare supplement insurance been targeted in the debt ceiling debate that's been going on for the past few months, but the so-called "Super Committee" that is tasked with developing recommendations to solve the nation's budget deficit may include changes that would dramatically impact this product.

November 23 is the deadline for the committee to vote on a plan, which may prohibit Medicare supplement plans from providing first-dollar coverage and limit what coinsurance they can cover. This represents a massive cost shift to seniors and would seriously impact Medicare supplement insurance plans.

How you can help:
Let your lawmakers know that these changes would seriously hurt seniors and they should not be supported until the full extent of their consequences can be identified.

Call 1-866-869-1923 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. CDT. You will hear a short message and then have the opportunity to be connected to your Representative or one of your Senators

Go to www.protectmedigap.org. You can explore the issue, sign up for email updates and directly email your opposition to your Congressional representatives.

Share these options with Medicare clients, business associates and friends who might be interested in getting involved
Directly contact members of Congress or Congressional staffers with whom you already have a relationship. Call or write to let them know that you and your Medicare supplement customers oppose these provisions, which punish seniors for taking responsible steps to finance their own health care costs

This is an urgent issue and one that deserves your immediate attention. Thank you for your commitment to protecting this important product for our customers and for the future success of our business.

Some guys from California and Indiana couldn't back up there talk. So they resorted to derogatory posts concerning mothers and homosexuals.

The thread got pulled because of your name calling and your posts mentioning my "old lady."

Get your facts straight before you point fingers.

Utters Jr. ,
Please explain to us how Medicare advantage will look if they were not funded by the government.

Do you have any understanding or comprehension?

Under Medicare Part C, the federal government contracts with private insurance companies to administer Medicare benefits through Medicare Advantage plans.

Medicare is a social insurance program administered by the United States government.

So I guess to answer your question. It would look pretty much the same as unfunded Medicare.

Seriously, you sell to and educate seniors?

Seriously? What are you talking about? So without government funding, you are saying that we will have $0 premium MA's with MOOP's of $5k or less?:D:D:D

After re reading your post I see that you said unfunded Medicare. MA's would most likely be a lot better than in funded Medicare but that was not the question.
