Well, I have to change my jokes now when I am replacing a Metlife policy. Picking on Snoopy was one of the bright spots of my life insurance career.

Good Grief!

Bloomberg: The largest U.S. life insurer announced Thursday that it will phase out the use of Snoopy and Peanuts characters in its marketing. It also unveiled a new tagline, “MetLife. Navigating life together,” in what the New York-based company called the most significant change to its brand in three decades. The insurer also rolled out its new logo, featuring a green and blue letter M.

I've never liked 'cartoons' mixed with serious financial decisions. I've sold MetLife VAs in the past - they were quite good - but having snoopy on the cover made it seem 'less serious'.

It's a good move on Met Life's marketing to finally drop that nonsense.

What's next? Yogi and the AFLAC duck?

If you don't know where you are going you will never get there.

I think Snoopy was an endearing character to an older generation, that is no longer viewed the same way by the next generation. The company is just responding to the market reality. Probably took too long doing it, but then I'm often guilty of that.
