Dear NAHU Members,
We need your help right now!!! As you know the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is considering a resolution requesting that HHS address the issue of agent commissions in the final regulation on PPACA’s Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) requirements.
This afternoon at 5:00 PM EASTERN Commissioners will meet via conference call for a private commissioners only NAIC Roundtable discussion to discuss the issue privately. This afternoon, “consumer” groups began to mobilize and have activated their grassroots efforts in opposition to the resolution. Commissioners have received hundreds of calls and faxes from consumer groups against agents this afternoon, and we need to immediately start a counter attack.
We need you to act now to support our industry! Please contact your insurance commissioner via phone call or fax immediately and ask for his/her support on the MLR Resolution to be offered by Florida Commissioner Kevin McCarty. Commissioners will have the opportunity to vote for the MLR Resolution next Tuesday, November 22nd at 4:00 pm EST during the NAIC Plenary meeting conference call, but their active support on the call this afternoon is critical too .
