Does anyone know what type of Health Product they are selling in Texas?

I write for their sister company Freedom Life. Home office Fort Worth, TX. EXCELLENT plans and rates in most states: Major medical, HSA, Copays, etc. Ben Cutler who basically put Fortis on the map is the CEO.

I am appointed with Assurant, but rarely ever put anyone on Assurant anymore due to the fact that Freedom's HSA is as good or better plan and they pay 6.15 % on their savings account.

Both NFL and Freedom are all under the USHealth Group umbrella. USHealth is privately held company of Credit Suisse.

6.15%????? Is that standard regardless of balance, account type, minimum transfer requirements, etc.???

Mostly anything I have seen pays a crappy 2-3% under $5000ish up to 4% for balances over $10,000.

I'm trying to find what you need to get 6.15%

Check your local/regional credit unions. I send people in my area here:

http://patelco.com/accounts/hsa.aspx

They have a good rate and they waive the $1/month maint. fee the first year. I'll bet there are other CUs in your area who will be as good or better. (In CA I don't think anyone can join any CU. Some have membership restrictions. Some don't. Maybe even out-of-state people can oin some as well? I'm not sure.)

HSA account is administered through FirstHSA. Minimum $100 to set up account.

Refresh my memory, are you a captive or indy agent? It would appear that US Health Group is a captive company. There is nothing on their website about their plans and that raises a red flag with me.

I just got off the phone with a rep from 1st Bank. In reality, they do offer a 6.15% yield on an HSA, but only on new accounts sold by US Health Group. I was told that they offer the rate in conjunction with the health policies and association through US Health Group. The actual bank that handles the transactions is Leesbort Bank out of PA.
