ND Insurance Commissioner sets world record for tallest male politician
BISMARCK, ND - It's official- North Dakota's insurance commissioner Jon Godfread is now the tallest male politician in the world. Godfread's official measurement was 210.7 centimeters, or a little over 6 feet, 10 inches tall. Godfread says the whole process was fun and with his new title, there's not a whole lot different yet.
Process truly is the best word for it. Godfread had to get measured three times in October, standing up and laying with witnesses. Then the record was an average of the standing measurements. Godfread takes the honor from New York Councilman Robert Cornegy Jr. Both were former basketball players, but Godfread isn't taking this for a trophy.
“If someone learns there's an insurance commissioner's office that they can turn to for help then it's certainly worth it, but it's also a lot of fun in the meantime,” said Godfread.
