New to the insurance business

Hi every one.
I am starting out in the insurance industry, I just recently for got my life and health license and will get my p&c license next week. I am interested in opening an independent agency in maryland. I have started working with an independent agency to get experience but would like to open my own one next year. i have a 5 yrs of mortgage sales experience. any advice will be greatly appreciated. i am also interested in how i can get get signed up with carriers. secondly who has the cheapest e&o for an indpendent agency which does both L&H and P&C. thanks in advance

Where in Maryland? Life and Health is easy to get appointed, I think where you might find a problem being a new agent is P&C.

For health, I would recommend contracting with Aetna, Golden Rule and Assurant.
