Just about to take my P&C, any recommendations who in ohio I should gain my experience with? I know next to nothing and want to do well

I'm a firm believer that indy is the way to go but there are many paths to get there. If you end up getting on with a captive, leave before the koolaid is compulsory. I would start with checking with your local agencies.

If you get a few offers I would treat them as learning experiences because for most of us we worked somewhere else before we got the job we have.

Get some mentorship and learn the hows whats and whos.

No no... what I mean is there are two types of agencies, captive (State Farm, AmFam etc) and independent meaning an agency representing many carriers.

No, just kidding. Indy is the nickname most of us use for "independent". The overwhelming majority of experienced agents on this site think indy is the way to go eventually, while captive is great to start. There is a minority that thinks captive is a good place to end up, but it's a minority.
