I joined this forum a month ago. I've read a lot of post and the information is helpful. I've been a licensed real estate and mortgage broker for 20 years, had my own company but now it's just me. Looking for a career change. I just received my Life and Accidental/Health License from CDI. Like others, I don't know where to start Independent/Captive. I'm not too concerned about commission splits but would like to one day have my own agency. I see ads on Craigslist about ex-mortgage brokers selling FE. Is this the way to get started to generate income? Any help or criticism is useful.

Unless you have already done so, you need to find Insurance Carriers that will Appoint you to sell their Products. Obviously, the Companies that you want to become Appointed with will vary on what you are selling.
You have the option of approaching the Carrier pwrsonally or you could go through an FMO, who you can get Appointments through and who are also "suppose" to help and train you along the way.
