I was just informed that some Ins companies are not going to pay comp on Dual Eligible MA plans for 2017. Does anyone have ant details ?

Do you have State-mandated Medicare-Medicaid Coordination plans in your State?
I take that back. Found this about UHC in TN and AZ "In November, UnitedHealthcare will start to automatically enroll members of its Medicaid plans in Tennessee and Arizona into its Medicare Advantage plans, a spokeswoman said." Sounds like no need for an agent to get on SNP in TN and AZ starting in NOV. wow. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...d34dd0-533d-11e6-b7de-dfe509430c39_story.html

Reinforces my focus on Med Supp.

That BLOWS. So many states have started doing this already. They AUTOMATICALLY will do this UNLESS the forced member "opts out" and decides to stay as they were. Some of them are not savvy enough to figure out that they can change back to the way that they were and just go with the flow.

I am confused. The state did begin a proposal (top link) in 2011, to impose a state mandated Medicare -Medicaid (TNCARE) Co ordination

In 2012 they again tried to pass in the state (middle link)

However, it was taken off the table in 2013 (bottom link)

Any agents in TN have updated information?

If this were true wouldn't BCBSTN and Amerigroup be jumping all over this as well?

Bottom line, you best get to them prior to UHC auto enrolling if this is true. Good reason to minimize this segment of my book.

I am reaching out to the local Manager for clarification. I will post when/if I receive a response.

Update:

Yes the information is accurate

This is not something UHC only is choosing to implement, it is the state of TN.

It has been delayed, and the timeline is still uncertain.

As more clarity is given, the information will be shared.

per TN DOI

I am guessing it will happen AFTER the election.

Yep. Article says starting in November.

Did you info from local manager or just DOI ?

Going to make a lot of people unhappy when they find out their doc won't take the HMO SNP. I

I emailed my local rep and called DOI

Wanted to see who said what. Carrier reps are not always in the loop.

Both said the same thing.

I am not finding anything where this passed law as of yet. That is why I said it may not happen until after the election. I asked DOI if this was happening in November, reply was that it has been postponed but is on track to happen.

I do not believe we as agents are going to get the answers we are looking for, until the last minute.

They have been trying to pass this for the past 4 years.

I just keep chugging along, until it becomes law. Nothing I can do except change my marketing strategy.

I am sure it will be a cluster.

Anyone from other states that have gone this route? It would be interesting to see how it has played out.

In NH, I often feel like we're out on our own island with health insurance. We just got a DSNP look alike product which is available in about 2/3 of the state. We know the new product is a test case but we are now told it is going to continue. The state just gave all the medicaid consumers to two carriers just a couple years ago. So after the state just uprooted what they all knew, we're now trying to come around and showing them yet another possible change.
