Hi I am new here and new business owner. I just opened my insurance agency February 2016. I have hit a roadblock with getting appointments. I have 3 so far 1 commercial, 1 renters (they are revamping there auto program in my state so I cant issue new bz for auto), and one specialty. It seems like the non standard Auto I wanted are going to hold off due to my old employer blocking me. I know I just opened but should I wait for more appointments and work with what I have, or join a group? I do have a membership with PIA and can sell some of there companies but I don't like the 100/300 limits and the wait time to actually get a policy issued. I would appreciate any advise or comments. I am licensed P & C.

Join a group. It's a positive direction. You may owe them a % but you will be in business and able to grow your business so much quicker. It is worth the cost for many reasons.

FYI. No aggregator is going to want to sign you if you are looking to grow a non standard agency.

Thank you, I don't want to grow non standard I just thought it would be easier to get appointed thru them.
