need to help an 80 yr old senior that never enrolled in partD( just has medsup) I see D plans start at 15.10 for Humana/Walmart to 76.00.. what is the best value. what are you all doing for clients

like Josh said, type them in. They might be great for one person and their meds, but awful for one person and their meds.
I did one online on Friday where the lady saved $1000/yr by staying with the same company but changing plan offerings. You never know until you type it in. One size definitely doesn't fit all.

And maybe someone familiar with plan choices in Dade County (they're different than in San Diego County).
Unless your 80 yr old [and age ir not really relative in PDP consideration] is LIS then he will pay a Part D LEP. His penalty alone would be 84% of the national avg for PDP, which is appx 33.00 x.84 = 28 bucks; plus the cost of the selected PDP. Now, as was suggested by Josh, you need to input the zip code, enter the Rx and dosage, select the Pharmacy and then analyze the Medicare data to determine which plan suites the clients needs.
The analysis really has little to do with the cost of the plans premium, it only has to do with the total oop cost. The Medicare site will rank the plans based on the inslusion of the plan premium and the cost of the Rx... so you ignore the plan prem... and suggest one of the top 3 or 4 plans, in most cases.

Anyone can check on plans in the 57 states easily. Doesn't take much experience unless you're the "go to guy for Medicare" in CA.

Any good...? Yes, no ... maybe. It doesn't matter if they are any good, it matters if they are right for the client. Kind of like saying are Johnston & Murphy shoes any good...? Great, so you happen to be asking me about a size 7 J&M's, well they won't do me much good with a size 11.
You need to refer this elder gent to someone that can really help him before you really give him some bad advice, from the sound of things.
