I realize there is an offers section on the forum, but I am going to bend the rules for some self promotion (which if you know me, I tend not to do).

I have launched a new site called Health Agents Network. This is more of a tools and resource site, rather than a training site.

Basic Membership is free. I will have an Elite Program coming that is designed to give agents a voice to carriers and the industry coming soon.

MMG Inc. has backed me on this (Part of Senior Marketing Specialist) but they have given me free reign on the site to do what I want. You will note their logo & name is not on there.

I will be adding more content on a regular basis. If you have content you would like to share, let me know and I will give you full recognition for it.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful. Thank you all!

There is a link to it in my signature. There is a space in the URL for some reason (not supposed to be there) but the link works.

I thought it said an invite to AIL as in American Income Life.

That would have been funnier. :D

As I mentioned, MMG is backing the site, and I don't hide that.

Is this just another training site?
No. Senior Marketing Specailsits has SMS-University.com for that (which I run as well).

Think of it as Eric Clapton and Cream. HAN (Health Agents Network) is my solo act.

There will be an association side to it coming, but the goal is not to train, rather to give agents a voice to carriers and the industry. Through MMG and other ties, I have a lot of industry contacts that I judge need to hear the voice of agents. So, I am organizing the ability for agents to have just that. That is coming soon.

----------

P.S. That MO DOI thing was about an agreement with a carrier that went South. Cutler & Associates and MMG were cleared (okay, DOI for MO got $500) but some of the carrier reps faced jail time. More of a guilt by association. If they were devious, I would not be there.

Feel free to ask around about Senior Marketing Specialists or SMS (mind you there are two SMS's, one in Columbia, MO which is us, and the other in Omaha, NE) and I think you will find far more positive than negative. Will you find negative, I hope you find very little but I know that you cannot please everyone. :)

I don't understand what you mean by 'voice.' Do you mean a 'voice' like NAHU or NAIFA?

Are you thinking 'union' or trade association here?

Are you talking about a lobbying effort to regulators on behalf of agents?

Are you looking at having elected association officers?

I only ask because with a large FMO 'backing' you... I'm wondering just how independent HAN can be and on whose behalf HAN will be 'the voice' of given such 'backing.'

I think this could work out, but I think it would be a good idea to write a charter or a position paper on what HAN seeks to do and how it seeks to do it as well as to its goals, missions that are different from the current so-called agent associations out there. (Which should not be hard to do since the associations I'm familiar with are basically controlled by the carriers and not the agents and work in behalf of the carriers and not the agents.)

I applaud your efforts... I just don't quite understand exactly what they are.

Where are you going with all of this and how are you going to get there?

"Sirrah, go see what trumpet ’tis that sounds."

Those are some good questions and I appreciate your input.

I am looking to start with carriers and generate a report that agents help draft to give them a point of view from us. Will this have any massive effects on the market? I cannot say it will, but I know doing nothing for sure will not.

I would like to grow from there, but I am taking small steps. I know that organizations like NAHU and NAIFA do more political, but I am not to that point yet. Maybe a partnership with them eventually on the bigger issues, it is too early to say 100%.

As mentioned, this is more of a resource site at its core, rather than an association. The "association" side of it will be agent focused. I am not sure if it will be an actual association or just a group of agents. Again, that is still in the works. I am looking into the goals and structure.

The FMO backing will not be an issue. The last association I ran was basically funded by two main FMO's and we were able to keep things neutral.

Again, I truly appreciate your input. I am basically putting my passion of training and educating agents on a site for all to use.

OK, I will look. I do think when good agents work together it can make a difference. I just do not like the free and now cost out there, and then it really is a FMO just trying to get business.
