Premium Credit cards - Car Rental CWD insurance coverage?

Hello all,

Do premium cards such as Amex Platinum and Capital One Venture X cover a rental car from Turo that is being rented by a "commercially licensed rental agency" and not an individual?

This question was probably asked a lot previously, but things have changed in recent years as there are many small-scale independent licensed car rental companies that use Turo. I called Capital One and the first representative said that any rental from car sharing website is not covered. Then I was transferred to a specialist who mentioned that the CWD coverage would be provided as long as the car is rented from a "commercially licensed rental agency" even if it is rented on Turo platform. I called a few days later to confirm and the same thing repeated. First agent said that Turo is not covered but when I got transferred to a specialist then they said Turo rentals are covered provided I rent from licensed agencies.

However, I couldn't find any documentation in the benefits package which talks about coverage for commercially licensed rental agencies within Turo. All I can find is that "car share" is not covered. Does anyone know if Venture X (and/or other premium cards) indeed cover Turo rentals if they are rented from commercially licensed agencies?

Thanks.

If the vehicle is titled and/or registered to an individual you will be hard pressed to have a claim covered.

The answer is "no."

I called the Benefits Administrator for Venture X benefit after reviewing the Visa Infinity T&C eff 4-15-21 for Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver. While there is nothing that specifically references exclusion (which I told them was ambiguous and therefore covered as long as there is a car rental agreement which is what is denoted in the T&Cs), the lady said they have a list of companies that are excluded and Turo is one of them.

I suggested they update the "not covered" to include "on-demand" or "peer-to-peer lending platforms." Could have swore there was peer-to-peer language when I looked at it before, but didn't see it on this T&C.

See the attached notice from Turo re "credit card" coverage and the current T&C from Visa Infinity.
