Question for Florida BCBS Agents???

I heard from a reliable source that BCBSFL's individual business is down 65% from where it was last year. My BCBSFL sales have been poor last 6 months and I am still a top 50 ranked agent actually working harder so I kind of concur. I would think that BCBSFL would be a good "bell weather" indicator on the overall sales environment. Any other BCBSFL agents in the same boat???

Hmmmmmmm, let's see.
"Coming out of" the worst economy in 70 years and we have a government trying to put us out of business ... a yuh, I'd say it's been a slow year all around in the indie health game ...?

I was looking for specifics from Florida BCBS agents, not some out of state wise-ass

Dear sir,
Considering you market BCBSFL, I'd like your feedback on the following.
When I started selling this carrier I was incentivized by their background and sound standing in the industry.
But in real life, I can't find a straight forward 80/20 copay plan with copays for both general practitioners and specialists. The closest plans have the copay foe GP but not the specialist and prices are not very competitive.
I've tried to do a side by side with Golden Rule and Cigna and both beat BCBSFL, specially Cigna which now has the best rates all around.
I admit BC has great plans but the premiums are distubing and it's basically because they don't have similar copay plans as other carriers.
I hope I get some valuable feedback from you and others out there.

Thanks

Its probably due to a few reasons:

A) There plans are very expensive.
B) Underwriting is a complete disaster. Healthy apps are taking anywhere from 2-4 weeks to be issued.
C) They will exclude/rider every single condition a client has. They are worse the United Health.

I have heard that this year is way above last year in production..This has been our best year for most of our agents, it all dependts on your source for daily leads, etc...

You're obviously in your first year with this, but you should learn how to sell more than a co - pay?

Secure health one,
You are getting poor info. BCBSFL business is down 65% from last year. That does not mean it does not sell. Tell me more about your supposed BCBSFL success?

I am (or more specifically was) a Florida Blue Cross agency. We have kicked a ton of ass for them and as of today I believe they have terminated my contract for advertising their product.
You see as an MAA I am not allowed to advertise their product, additionally I must offer their product first. So in essence if I advertise for another company I must sell their product. They verify this by having secret shoppers call my agents.
Basically they want me to churn my book of business till I burn it out and then hope that my Blue Cross renewals make up for the fact that I can't do anything. It is these types of archaic ideas that account for their poor production this year. I have never seen so many agents get their licenses pulled in such a short time. Wake up the internet exists! In the mean time I have to hope that they pay me and my agents the thousands that they owe us or instead of the insurance forum I will be on the lawyer forums.
