So, this is a personal opinion, but whateve's.
Most people that are going to the hospital aren't going to have time to price check. Competitive markets are not a problem to me, when they aren't based on emergent life or death care.

Along the same line, I remember 30 years ago, one of the local hospitals said on the news on T.V. that the people that have insurance...their insurance is paying for those that don't.
Always been that way.
Worker bees pay for the deadbeats.
Bernie's plan to pay off student loans is another stupid idea. People who never went to college, or went and paid their own way (no loans), or had loans but paid them off would be expected to pay off the loans of the deadbeats.
How is that fair.
The RAND report is all bogus.
Hospitals BILL the same rate for same services regardless of whether you have private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid or no insurance.
What is PAID is all that matters.
Private insurers pay the highest amount, followed by Medicare (about 10 - 15% less than private), Medicaid is next and those with no insurance pay the leas.
No one EVER pays "sticker" price.
