Realtor Insurance

Group health insurance for realtors is relatively easy. Several carriers will cover them including Blue & Allied.

In the Philadelphia, PA area I can write insurance agents on a BX group plan (as a sole proprieter) only if they have the following designations: CLU, CEBS, ChFC, or CPCU. Also, there is now an individual BX HMO plan available to all, but it is underwritten. In norheastern PA, I can write BX on all insurance agents without underwriting.

Will any cover insurance agents?

Some will. Depends on the state (especially in dealing with Blue).

The policy is issued to the agency. Must have at least 2 W2 employees. The 1099 employees covered as a separate class.

Are you talking about a small group policy or an individual agent who is a sole prop?
I've got good small group plans, I was wondering if these affinity group plans were worth anything?

Most affinity group plans are not true group but an endorsed street product, individual major med. Same deal as anyone can get going direct (or thru a broker). Same plan, same price, same underwriting.

World has some new affinity plans. Haven't paid much attention to them. I am pissed at World (again). From the preliminary discussion with them their affinity plans are similar, but different from street products. Still have the same underwriting which sucks.

You can write true group on real estate agencies and insurance agencies with SOME carriers. Generally you must have 2 full time W2 employees and 2 or more 1099 employees.
