Renters Insurance License

I currently have my Health/life license in Michigan, selling mainly Medicare products as an Independent Agent. How would I go about getting licensed just for selling Renters Insurance and can I stay an Independent Agent?

You probably have to get a full blown p&c license.

You need your P&C license. Why are you interested in selling $100-$200 renters policies? Refer them to another agent. Unless you plan to sell other personal lines.

Thanks for the Info...was just thinking it would be something easy to add to my portfolio due to a lot of people in my area rent..also, most of my clients are on Med Adv plans and a little nervous about those going away..

Renter's Insurance does not yield much commission, but it's a good 'leader' for your other business.
