Search for Universal Life

This case brings to light a bad problem with over-regulation of the insurance industry. The laws in most if not all states prevent an insurer from excluding suicide from coverage (except during the first 2 or 3 years). What if you allowed an insurer to exclude suicide for the life of the policy with a case like this? Then one insurer might actually take it.

The suicide thing is part of a larger issue in his PTSD; he needs more room in the rear-view from this before he can get covered at a price that's not prohibitive. It's the reason why some carriers price a disease like MS so high in the first 5-10 years; we aren't worried about the neuro issues so much right away; it's the people who put a .38 to their temple when they find out what's going to happen and don't want to go on.
