Greetings all I am new to the forum! I have been a captive agent for about 8 months and was basically brand new to insurance when I started. I was hoping to get your guys thoughts on my career. I am decent in my opinion at selling med sups with only one carrier because it's all I'm use to. I can also sell final expense. I recently have seen some snippets of "the grass being greener" on the other side of insurance with the independent agent side. Higher commissions being able to write for multiple companies and lead credits( this I'm not to aware of the intricacies of this). I recently had a child born and my wife isn't working. So my question is should I look right now to being an independent agent? I don't have much liquidity at the moment in my opinion to "safely" do it. I'm looking for some advice from more experience agents who could offer advice or insight! I greatly appreciate your time in reading this and offering your wisdom.
