Anyone know if it is possible to obtain a structured settlement on a pension in order to get income off the books to be below the cap to quality for medicare extra help?
I have a lady that is up around the 10,000 range annually in drug costs, she makes just over 1500 a month in income because of a 500 dollar pension combined with her 1000 in SS income. The pension is causing her to not qualify for extra help. She has 0$ in the bank, and is having to choose between her drugs to stay alive and food at this point.
Any thoughts on using a structured settlement in order to reduce her monthly income in order to qualify for QMB?
