If someone already has a paramed with company A, and approved at standard can they tell their agent to shop that paramed to other carriers. If they can, what is the process, etc. Thanks for any responses.

Technically the paramed is not with "Company A", it is with the Exam company that performed it.

So the agent can use that Paramed for other carriers too.

How you use that Paramed depends on the situation you are in...

You say "shop", does that mean just to base quotes off of, or do you mean sending in an application?

If it is just quotes, you can have the client sign a form allowing you access to the paramed. Then you get it from the exam company, compare it to UW guidelines, and find the best fit.

If it is sending a new app in, you can get the Paramed yourself and send it into the company. Or the easiest way is to just call the exam company and have the Paramed sent to the new carrier.

Parameds are usually good for 6 months with most companies (obviously there will be exceptions to this). After about the 2 month mark they will usually require a separate form called a "statement of continued good health".

I just noticed you are a new poster... are you an agent or a consumer?
