Short Term Driver's Liability

I am going to spend 3 months in the US this summer.
I am a Swiss national and I will be staying at a friend's.
I am planning to buy a used car and would like to know if insurance companies offer short term liabilities in such a case.

Thanks in advance

Buy a policy and cancel once done. The shortest duration for a policy in the US is 6 months (at least that I'm aware of). Going to be more expensive/difficult since you don't have a US license, nor years of experience driving in America.

At any rate, good luck and enjoy your stay!

Also to add to that, you may get a short-rated cancellation refund. This is common when you cancel a policy within the first few months, but at least you'll be covered in the mean time. Just make sure they will take a foreign license.

Unfortunately most major carriers won't write a policy for less than six months. If you don't want to buy a six month policy and cancel then you can always try a smaller online carrier. Just research them first to make sure they are legit.
