Short Term Med or Major Med?? That is the question.

I'm not in a waiver state, so what happens if she has a heart attack caused by the HBP which is a waived condition?

Likely it would not be covered, but very few companies waiver HBP.

And even in waiver states HBP an CHOL combo is very hard to get approved unless all systems are a go such as BMI, etc., etc., Good luck trying to find a HBP / CHOL case with a BMI of 25 or less...

I hear HBP / CHOL and I recommend group or risk pool (varies by state)

Before making a decision, I would get a statement regarding how broad the pre-ex exclusion would be.

If they won't cover her meds and doctors visits for the current conditions but will cover other circulatory conditions that she hasn't had treatment for, the risk may be manageable.

If, for example, they won't cover anything to do with her circulatory system, then I would advise her to take the major med. In fact, if the exclusion is broad enough to exclude heart disease or stroke, I would tell her that it would be unethical for me to sell it to her.
