Signature line limits

I have been trying to change my sig line and keep running into new guidelines.

Too many characters.

Can't have more than one link.

Can't have more than 2 lines.

Today I tried to change a dead link and found out I can't without completely rewriting my signature.

I get no respect

I have not tried to do anything with signatures recently, but I had the same issue when the new forum came up. I wanted to make a change, but my signature that carried over from the old forum, or anything similar to it, was too long to be accepted.
