Been a while since I looked at annuities for one of my clients.
He wants to earn more on his money, etc, you get the picture.

Well, I looked up rates, knew they were going to low.
But, what really woke me up wasn't the rates.
But who in the h#%$ are these companies?

1. Upstream- sounds like a fishing magazine.
2. Nassau- Thought that was where all the illegal money went off shore.
3.Guggenheim- Great museum.
4. Oceanview- Sounds like the real estate ad my wife keeps talking about.
5. ACL- DId they leave out the U
6. Sentinel Security Life- Think I have one of their cameras above the garage, lets know
when pesty final expense agents are knocking on doors.
7. Athene- Isn't that the capitol of Greece?
8. GILICO- Heck I can't even think of one for this.

What happened to A+ companies that sold decent annuitiy products?
To be fair North American was on the list.

Oceanview (A-) has the best MYGA rates for carriers not rated in the "Bs". They are cutting rates Aug 31.

I dont know much about upstream (I avoid <A- unless necessary)

Nassau used to be Phoenix.

Guggenheim owns the Dodgers

ACL and Sentinel are basically the same company.

And GILICO writes MYGAs up to age 100 so that's basically their only use (commencement and renewal problems)

American Equity and Allianz are still very competitive for generating lifetime income. Often in the top 5 (best always depends on situation). I cant speak much about Equitrust, but I know Ray can.

Athene got their start by acquiring Aviva USA.

They kept the annuity biz and sold the life biz to Global Atlantic.

Athene is also a huge player in the reinsurance biz for other annuity carriers including:
American Equity
Jefferson National
Liberty Life
Transamerica
Sammons (NA/Midland)
Voya
Lincoln
Mass Mutual
Brighthouse

Sold Aviva, they had some great stuff in the day... had some folks get in an make some good returns on some for the plans they offered.
