Socialism will Destroy our Business

I see what you're saying. However, the system determines where some dollars go (through taxation and gov spending).

Socialism is really just capitalism with more taxation and social safety nets.

France is socialist and they are a nuclear superpower. I don't think socialism is good, but I don't think it's a deathblow, either. It kinda sorta works in Europe, but I think it would work less well here.

I wasn't making a point against the evils of socialism just that the sky doesn't fall just becasue things change. Even in communist countries there are millionaires even though the majority suffer greatly.. ..I do take exception with the claim that socialism is always the gateway to communism.. Europe, including England has been socialist for years... None of those countries have slid into communism and, in fact, some may even be turning back more to a capitalist system..

Because at this juncture they have to go one way or another that's the way its designed,

Yes, but history shares a story of a nation that moved from a monarchy to socialism via "the widow". Thousands of innocent lives lost just because they were "accused".

No economic system is all good or all bad.

Real communism contains no money. It's a communal society in which there are no social classes and everyone does shared work. That has never existed in the world aside from small tribes.

Profit ahead of people and the environment. That's the main problem with capitalism.

Real communism was tried in the United Sates when the first settlers arrived.. They almost starved to death.. It wasn't until they were allowed to own the fruits of their labor did they succeed.

Now you are letting your bias show because neither of those are the result of capitalism no matter how much the left wants people to believe it..Slavery has existed in every form of government. A true capitalist certainly does not put his company ahead of people for profit at any cost because he knows that in order to succeed he can make more with satisfied workers than with workers that are miserable.. Yes, some of the robber barons tried it the other way but they would have eventually either had to change or fail as competition for labor increased. And, it is simply not true that capitalists care about the environment less than socialists as you imply.

One more and I promise to step off my soap box... but just for a little while.

Our lack of understanding history, our own as well as that of other nations current and past... often leaves us ignorant to important paths that would navigate beyond the failures that history has presented to us...

Liberty is costly... it often calls us to great sacrifice in order to preserve it for future generations... my concern is about this current crop of youngsters who are more concerned about their own personal freedom then preserving the freedom they have for those yet to come.

Intersting that it didn't work for the "first settlers" and they almost starved to death yet it seemed to be working quite well for the natives.

I dont think he was showing a bias at all. I think he was being level headed and offering another perspective that anything can potentially have a negative effect if, for example, the person in charge is corrupt.

If anything I think your bias was showing...

True.. It is not so much capitalism as it is freedom that brought the nation to greatness.. Unfortunately from day, people seeking power have gradually eroded the freedoms that were enjoyed by early Americans.
Interesting that it didn't work for the "first settlers" and they almost starved to death yet it seemed to be working quite well for the natives.

Neither of those things are unique to capitalism... they are the result greed which exist in every society, culture and government..
