T65 MA App Question?

    Question Client has signed to for MA plan but before it goes into effect on 02/01 wants to change to a different MA plan is it the last app wins in this case before effective date?

    If you used the initial election period (ICEP/IEP), it is a one time election and cannot be used again. Your client can cancel or may have other elections available to them such as the OEPnew or a SEP.

    It depends on what election period your client came into the MAPD plan on. Since it is OEP now and a lot of agents are confused about it, let's assume that your client had just gotten his plan during AEP. He can make one change during OEP. It is NOT the last app in, wins. In AEP you can change an unlimited number of times and the last app in, wins. But you can only use the SEP-OEP one time.

    T65 New to medicare 02/01 . WC Mason, I know from the forum has great experience with MA situations, I am going with his opinion the last app wins

    IEP one app in .you can not put in multiple apps for iep
    Aep last app in wins
    OEP one time election mapd change

    Experience would disagree with this.

    Yes, IEP you get 1 election, but it's not "used" until it goes into effect. You can change up until the effective date.
