Travel Insurance?

Some credit card companies offer Trip Interruption coverage if the card was used for payment/deposit for the cruise/hotel/flight, etc. Know the details, of course, of what qualifies as a covered loss.

There is trip interruption insurance, which may be a better choice. Some travel health insurance includes limited coverage for trip interruption. GeoBlue includes $500 coverage for certain reasons of delay/cancellation. Not much coverage but the health insurance coverage is excellent and very competitive rates!

Trip can / interruption is probably a waste of money. Lot's of weasel language. If you can get a credit from your airline trip can/interruption won't pay.

My wife had trip can via her credit card. Broke her hip two weeks before the trip. Doc put kibash on travel. Delta gave a credit for the cost of the ticket. CC trip can would not pay.

Out of country travel definitely worth is and low premium.

Had a client a few years ago with a crisis on the Amazon River. Out of country bill including air ambulance back to states was $200k. His international med paid all but the deductible.

Now, this is a good true story to tell people. But it's surprising how cheap some can be after paying for an expensive trip.

A lady a few years back told me she and her husband traveled with three other couples to a smaller island off of Puerto Rico. One of the husband's had a heart attack and was airlifted to PR to a big hospital then flown back to the States. She said at the time the Medevac was $40,000 and thank God for the travel insurance.
