What carriers do you use for Med Supps for Under 65 clients that pay a halfway decent commission?

A few weeks ago I wrote one (an aunt) with a decent SSDI check and also a pension. She's not exactly broke so she can afford the Supp and a Part D. Stupidly, I didn't realize that the carrier I wrote her on (Lumico) in PA only pays 1% commission on Under 65 business in PA. She won't T65 and be in her new Open Enrollment until next Spring. I guess I could find another carrier now and cancel this out (it's not effective until 9/1), but I feel like an ***. I may chalk it up to a leaning experience and suck this one up but I don't want to write the business for such low commission.

My upline said UHC is one of the few that pays better commissions on Under 65 business but they are really expensive in my County... But just drive an hour north and they are really good.

I have another one coming up later this week and if possible, would like to make a little more commission. His sister is a good friend of mine, is helping him choose a plan and wants him to get Plan G or N, none of that MAPD business (he has severe mental health issues, and this would be the only time for him to get a Supp, most likely).

I never use commission as a basis for what I recommend to my clients.

I will within reason, If it cost the client an extra 20 or so to get me as an agent I will do that, I am worth it.

However if its a lot more I will send them directly, I usually don't write apps I don't get comped anymore, Unless its a husb wife deal and I am getting paid on one spouse at least

IMO that's self-serving. I will do what is right for the client.

Umm, well generally I never do, either. But 1% is REALLY low. And I'm sure someone here experienced with this business may have a suggestion.

I was considering starting to write Med Supp with Humana, but there's a whole thread on here about agents having difficulty getting paid by them. Bills have to be paid, and a girl's gotta eat.

Even Humana is only 2%. You aren't going to be paying the bills on U65 Medsupps.

It varies by state, I remember when I was looking in one state cigna did pay in some states and not others I forget who else was a player in that

Agreed about not paying the bills in U65 Med Supps. I usually get them as DSNPs. These two just happened to come along unexpectedly.

If I can't find a carrier that pays a few extra bucks, I'm going to take Vic's advice and have them call the carrier direct.

Why not just take the 1%?
