Union reimbursement

One of my debit clients recently got a union job and is a Teamsters member. He was just telling me about some kind of union program that would reimburse him for the cost of his premiums, apparently tied somehow to a union funeral benefit. He didn't know any more about it.

In my whole career I've never heard of anything like that. I've heard of life insurance being sold to union members that they get payroll deducted as an add-on to their union dues, but never a reimbursement. Is this familiar to anybody?

I'd hate to see him get scammed. But if it's legit, then I think he needs more life insurance, don't you?

Hmmm... I've been told many things by union guys... far too many times I discovered, they didn't know what they were talking about.

One guy told me he had 3 disability policies so he would make 3 x more if he were ever hurt at work...

I too have heard weird items concerning union folks. 95% of the time, it's bunk

People are people. They hear what they want to hear from the union or anywhere else.... and sometimes it's a smoke screen. Usually if you help them start probing for something in writing, the truth comes out.
