What Would You do?

I've been running into a lot of 60 to 65 yr olds needing coverage, but most of the time the won't qualify for an individual plan and when they do--same problem as with this lady--very high premiums.

I've been suggesting basically what Sti is saying. Go with the high deductible. Better a 10,000 out of pocket than 300,000 out of pocket. Some people get it, some don't.

So here's the question...

Hold your breath and go naked for 4.5 months - or pay the $475 a month?

Keep in mind that this is ultimately her problem, not yours as hard-hearted as that sounds. You should not be approaching it with the idea that you should be recommending to her whether to pay the premium or go without. You should only be showing her options. Even if the premium were double that (I am in a guaranteed issue state, so it would be almost triple) don't ever get caught in a situation where a client goes without on your recommendation. Cleints may end out there, but it should be based on their own conclusion. I also don't know whether some clients should pay their heating bill or their med supp.
