I'm a new broker, Newbie if I may, just started an agency and need help in picking a few companies to sell Accident, Life and possibly health.. I'm a Finance director in car business for last 25 years.. In my business commissions vary, What is considered a fair percentage..

Greetings! I am in the process of starting my own insurance company as well. How are things moving so far for you? Any tips would be appreciated!

Depends on the product you are looking to sell and whether you are geared towards front or rear loaded commissions. A single premium life policy may be around 8% commission where a final expense policy may be 120% with small renewals. Lots of variables here.

There is also the factor on who will qualify, if the company has strict underwriting but pays 100% and another only pays 80% but looser underwriting then the 80% may be more than the 100%.

It can also vary depending on who you are under, one marketing group may put you at 80% the other may do 110%.
