Why sales training is critical, new agent or not!

My mentor is going to be the 30 year vet who we have as our insurance broker. I'm happy as h$ll to have the opportunity!

Like solid clients, they are everywhere. You just have to look.

That is the problem. A newbie most often doesn't know enough to evaluate someone's ability or willingness to be a mentor. A lot of top producers don't want to mess with it. MDRT has a formal mentoring program but I think it is more talk than anything. My understanding is that very few MDRT mentors are available.

My advice is just talk to as many people as possible, agents, agencies, wholesalers, and ask who they would recommend. Start hanging around the local NAIFA group, Society of Financial Service Professionals, NAHU, or the AALU. A mentor can eventually be found.
